Make More Belgium Travel Plans and Visit Nearby Belgium Cities
When planning your trip, you may want to make other Belgium travel plans in addition to your visit to Brussels.
With all of the great museums, shopping, restaurants and other attractions Brussels has to offer, you could stay in the city limit for days and have plenty to keep you busy.
But if you have more than 48 hours to spend here, you may be interested in making Belgium travel plans to include visiting some other cities and regions in the country to get a feel for life outside Brussels.
Notable places to consider include Waterloo, Antwerp, Brugge, Bastogne, The Ardennes, Liege, and Spa.
We'll be visiting each of these and making recommendations on how to get there from Brussels, how to get around, accommodations, restaurants and sites to see.
Waterloo, Belgium
Our first featured city is Waterloo - home of the Waterloo Battlefield Park, Wellington Museum, and the 300-year-old St. Joseph's church. One of the most historical places in Belgium, this is where Napolean 'met his Waterloo' and changed the course of European history.
Waterloo, Belgium
Antwerp, Belgium
Named one of the top 10 cities in the world to visit in 2009 by the editors of Lonely Planet, the city of Antwerp is a diamond in the crown of Belgium. Famous for chocolate, world-class fashion and yes, a center for the diamond trade, Antwerp offers striking architecture, excellent restaurants and a mecca for shopping.
Antwerp, Belgium
Brugge Belgium
We've taken a couple of daytrips to Brugge and it really is as beautiful as the guidebooks describe. Eventually, we'll provide more information about Brugge as we've done for Waterloo and Antwerp. Until then, enjoy some of our photos and see if you agree with the old proverb, 'a picture is worth a thousand words.' Brugge, Belgium
